About Hampton, Virginia
One of the oldest cities in America, Hampton was founded in 1610. it became an independent city, separate from Elizabeth City County in 1908.
The city is currently in a period of growth and is an excellent location to relocate to. Set on the southeastern side of the Virginia peninsula jutting out into the Hampton Roads and Chesapeake Bays, Hampton has miles of shoreline and is close to the rest of Hampton Roads, while retaining the feel of a small town. Hampton's public school system are regionally accredited and nationally acclaimed and has an excellent community atmosphere that is perfect for raising a family. All sizes of homes are available for sale in this wonderful city. One of the most popular forms of entertainment is boating, because of the abundance of water and shoreline. Like many other cities of Hampton Roads, this city has a considerable presence; Hampton is the home of Fort Monroe, and Langley Air Force Base, as well as the NASA Langley Research Center. The Hampton Public Schools System includes 4 high schools, 3 middle schools, and 23 elementary schools. Private schools in Hampton include Hampton Christian Schools and St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic School. Universities in nearby Norfolk include Old Domion University and Norfolk State University. A few of Hampton's most significent industries are high-tech firms, seafood processing, and military.

Places of interest in Hampton are the Buckroe Fishing Pier, the Charles Taylor Arts Center, the downtown Historic District, Langley Speedway, the Hampton Coliseum, Sandy Bottom Nature Park, and the Virginia Air and Space Center. Hampton has more than 20 neighborhood parks, and two state parks are in the neighboring city of Virginia Beach: First Landing State Park and False Cape State Park. Virginia has an excellent system of state parks that facilitate many kinds of outdoor recreation, including camping, biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and boating.
